2008 Dartmouth Relays

Event Entry Standards, Limits, and Policies

Please do not enter athletes that do not meet the standards listed below.

RELAY CARDS:  Relay cards will be in the team packets.  Please have the team's coach submit the card at the clerk's check-in table.  Seeding will, however, be done based upon seed times given during initial entry.

REGARDING ELIGIBILITY:  High school coaches should check with their respective state and national associations for their high school rules.  Only eligible high school students from state-sanctioned high schools will be permitted to compete in the high school meet.  The high school portion of the meet is sponsored by Lebanon High School in Lebanon, NH. Canadian High School athletes will not be entered unless they represent a sanctioned High School. This will be strictly enforced.

HIGH SCHOOL LIMITS:  High Schools are limited to 3 athletes per event per school. If more than 3 are entered, we will accept the first 3 entered in that event.

TRI-STATE MILES:  Please note that the TRI-STATE MILE races on Friday night are NON-SCORING.

SEEDING:  In all running events, seeding will be done 30 minutes before the start of each race. The sprint and hurdle events will be seeded serpentine. In the oval events, the fastest sections will run first, followed by all remaining sections. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ALL RUNNING EVENT ATHLETES CHECK IN AT THE CLERK'S TABLE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE EVENT'S SCHEDULED TIME OR YOU WILL BE SCRATCHED !!

DOUBLINGNo High School athletes may compete in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump without prior approval from the Meet Directors.

FIELD EVENT FINALS:  In all throwing and horizontal jumping events, the top 8 competitors from the preliminary competition will brought to the finals. However, there will be NO finals for the High School Unseeded Long Jump and Unseeded Shot Put events.

STARTING BLOCKS:  Because of time constraints during the High School events, only Dartmouth College starting blocks will be allowed and only for the 55m Dash and the 55m Hurdles. Blocks will not be allowed for any other High School event.

JEWELRY & UNIFORM RULES:  For  High School events, the NFHS Jewelry and Uniform rules WILL be enforced.

HIGH SCHOOL POLE VAULT:  Section 7-5-3 of the 2006 NFHS Track and Field Rules will be strictly enforced. "The competitor's weight shall be at or below the manufacturer's pole rating. The manufacturers must include on each pole: the pole rating that shall be a minimum of 3/4" in a contrasting color located within or above the top handhold position; a 1" circular band indicating the maximum top handhold position with the position being determined by the manufacturer. Prior to the competition, the coach must verify that all of the school's pole vaulters meet these requirements."   POLE VAULT CERTIFICATION FORM

SPIKES: Spikes are allowed at the Dartmouth Relays up to 1/4" in length. However, given the texture and composition of the Leverone surface, we recommend that athletes use either 1/8" or 3/16".
